WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Mr . trump on Thursday said he was seriously considering naming U.S. State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert accomplishment Nikki Haley as U.S. ambassador within the United Nations, adding he previously make a decision on the posting soon.
“The girl with under extreme consideration,” Trump told reporters around the White House after announcing planned changes to U.S. immigration policy. “She’s excellent. She’s been along with us for a very long time. She’s been a supporter for a long time … We’ll probably make our minds up next week.”
ABC News reported on Thursday that Nauert was offered your responsibilities, citing an unnamed senior White House official. Fox News Channel also reported Nauert was asked to bring it on.
Trump, though, cast her only for a top choice, saying “we’ve got a lot of folks who want the work. And there are plenty of really great people.”
He would not give any specifics on other possible contenders.
ABC News stated it was not clear Nauert had endorsed accept the nomination.
Asked by Reuters whether Nauert were definitely offered the position, a White House official said will she was at issue. A source comfortable with the selection process said earlier on Thursday that Nauert was “near the top of the list.”
Nauert’s deputy, Robert Palladino, was also asked for a news briefing whether she’d been offered a job and said any announcement are the prerogative with the White House.
